In an all out attack against the main
opposition party, Samaras also said that it wants to abolish a maximum security
prison in central Greece to ‘make it easier for terrorists to escape’!

The election
campaign took on a comical twist this week as Prime Minister Antonis Samaras
accused main opposition Syriza that it wants to turn Greece into North Korea
and that it seeks to abolish the maximum security prison in Domokos in
central Greece to ‘make it easier for terrorists to escape’. The justice ministry’s decision to turn the prison at Domokos into a
maximum security had drawn the ire of prisoners.
“The Greeks want to remain in Europe and do not want to move to North Korea because Syriza wants to,” he said in the northern Greek town of Komotini over the weekend, referring to Syriza’s adoption of a code of conduct, whereby each party candidate is bound by the decisions made by the party’s central bodies and cannot follow tactics that are contrary to these decisions.
“The parliament seats of Syriza are the property of the party! The party comes before democracy for Syriza,” Samaras said.
But Samaras didn’t stop there, lashing out at the anti-bailout party for not ‘openly’ congratulating the Greek police on the recapture of escaped terrorist Christodoulos Xiros and he accused Syriza officials of ‘never missing an opportunity to support terrorists”.
Syriza has maintained a steady lead in voter preferences over New Democracy but recent polls showed that the margin has narrowed.
Samaras said that this had led to panic among Syriza’s leadership.
“They (Syriza) are in despair because they see the polls showing that the margin is being reduced to zero and, for the first time, they are faced with the prospect of their defeat,” he said
